+ 1.14: Where There's Smoke...

Cussing and howls of pain erupted and reverberated throughout the mansion. Somewhere upstairs the cries of a toddler could be heard. Davrin wasn’t quick enough to see Elvira leave the room and disappear. Beau had him pinned to the ground, his face smashed up against the floor. His cheeks stung from carpet burn and the taste of his own blood lingered in his mouth. Hemlock had also disappeared.
“We must move quickly.” Elvira reminded the other two. The sun was about to rise and they couldn’t risk exposure to the harsh rays after all the energy had been drained from them. She opened the doors to the 4x4, got into the passenger’s seat and Hemlock fired up the engine.
“Beau you know what to do.”  He and Elvira exchanged nods.
Beau stayed back at the mansion for a few more minutes. He watched the vehicle speed off then made his move. He disabled the fire alarms and lit a match. Within minutes the mansion will be up in flames and the fire department wouldn’t even know. He laughed evilly then sped off to catch up with the others.
Azaria, dreading her return home, had asked Jared to stay up with her. It was a selfish request but the only thing she could think of to buy herself some time. She was hoping that Davrin's anger would have subsided by now. They pulled up in his hire car outside the mansion which was now blanketed in a thick cloud of noxious smoke and ash. She threw open the door and rushed over to the front gate.

“Sorry ma’am but you’ll have to stay back. It’s too dangerous.” The fireman held his hand up to her stopping her in her tracks.
“But I live here.” She cried.
“I’m so sorry.” He said in a low voice.
She immediately thought of Troye, his tiny lungs were probably blackened with smoke and she contemplated the worst.

“Were...Were there any survivors? Was anyone inside?” She begged and pleaded inwardly that somehow Davrin had taken the child away and that he had purposely started the fire.
“I’m so sorry.” He repeated. Stop saying that you dumb s**t. She swore silently.
“But there were no survivors.” He informed her solemnly.

  1. OMG, what a terrible thing to come home to. I hope Devrin's alive, and he somehow managed to snatch little Troye. What I don't understand though is how a simple scuffle turned into a full blown wrath of fire. Unless the three vampires came with the intention of killing Devrin anyway?

  2. Well they can't kill him because of vampire law and stuff. Chapter 1.15 was meant to be a filler.

As for Troye... only Elvira and Co. know what's happened to him. All shall be revealed soon.
