+ 1.22: Little Miracles

You must be looking at the chapter number and saying wtf? Right? Don't worry you haven't missed an update. There are two chapters before this one. Just go the the Generation One page to find the new chapters. Hope you enjoy. Leave behind any suggestions if any.And thanks again for reading.

“Let me have a look at them.” Mila Hawthorne waltzed into the hospital ward, family in tow, and snatched up one of her granddaughters into her arms, not forgetting to throw a dirty look in Jared’s general direction. She held the tiny bundle, wrapped safely in pink blankets, and cooed softly at her.
“Isis and Rhea?” Mila asked a little surprised at her daughter’s choice of names.
“Yeah we figured since...” She stopped abruptly as her mother held up her hand signalling that she wasn’t ready to hear the explicit details of her granddaughters’ conception. She didn’t approve of the circumstances under which the twins were born – Azaria and Jared still weren’t married and the pregnancy had been unplanned – but she was the doting grandmother in every sense of the word.

“...We both like ancient mythology so we named them after the Egyptian and Greek goddesses.” Azaria pressed on slightly annoyed at her mother’s readiness to jump the gun. It was ironic that both Isis and Rhea were goddesses of fertility but those were the only two names she and Jared had really liked.

“Didn’t you use protection?” Mila’s voice was haughty as usual. They heard the door shut as Jared walked out. Azaria sighed and sat up, preparing to go after him when her mother stopped her.
“Let him go.” Mila had added a deeper meaning to that statement than Azaria had deciphered.
“Why do you always do that?” She glared at her mother insulted on Jared’s behalf. Mila had practically implied that this was his entire fault and her darling daughter was a victim of the situation.
“We just think you could have done better.”
“And that you could have been a little more responsible.” Her father piped in.

She didn’t say anything further on the matter. They would only persist in trying to get her to leave Jared and there was no point in listening to their protests. Leaving him was the last thing she wanted to do since he had been so supportive and loving over the last few months. She sat back in bed again. Like her, Jared needed to cool down his fiery temper before he could be consoled. So she let him leave. She didn’t want him to have to sit there and take whatever snide remarks her parents would throw around casually in any case.
Watching her parents coo and cluck over the twins, Azaria couldn’t help but think of the grandchild they may never meet. A pang of guilt stabbed her right in the middle of the heart as she wondered what he would be like now; would he look like his father or her; would he be a friendly baby or a loner; she wondered if he knew somehow that whoever he was with wasn’t his real mother. Ever since her encounter with the fortune teller she thought of him every day.
She had told Jared, on the same day that she revealed the news about the pregnancy, what the fortune teller had said about Troye: that somewhere in Bridgeport he was still alive and he was being taken care of; that she, Azaria, didn’t need to go looking for him because fate would bring him back to her. There was another prediction that she wasn’t ready to share with Jared; it was about Davrin and she was sure if she did tell him, he would flip his lid.

In the mean time, she questioned herself over and over again as to why she shouldn’t have to look for her own son; the fact that he would have been three years old by now destroyed all logic behind the prediction that he would find her. But she continued to hope; just a little bit for another of life’s little miracles.
Outside the hospital Jared fumed inwardly at the audacity of that woman. He now regretted his persistent protest for Azaria to reconcile with her family. He should have known that woman would bring her snotty attitude with when she said she was coming to Twinbrook for the twins’ birth – which she made blatantly clear that she didn’t wholly approve of. It’s not like he intended for this to happen. If he could have helped it, he would have done things the right way. Azaria knew that and her judgment was the only one that really mattered.

As he thought of her, he thought of the news she had shared with him only a few months ago: the news about Troye. He was still a bit sceptical about it and he knew that with every fibre of her being she wanted to hop on the next flight to Bridgeport. Where would they even start? The city was huge. It would just end up being a wild goose chase. She had said it herself. It would be best to let fate take its course.

General Discussion:
So... Instead I'll post the questions here.
  1. Who did you vote for? (right now that seems obvious :P )
  2. Why? And why not the other choice?
  3. What would you like to see happen next?

  1. Her parents are the worse!

    I voted! For Davrin :)
I chose Davrin because I like his evil ways. Jared just seems like friend material. I could feel a connection between Zari and Dav but not Jared.

I'd like to see Darin get out. Such a fan lol

  2. I voted for Davrin, too. I think there's a lot to him we haven't seen, and when he's with Az, there's fireworks. Passion, as in passionate anger, every emotion is heightened. With Jared, not so much.

Her parents...easy to see why she left home, and good for Jared, not blaming Az for her parent's behavior.

I'd like to see Davrin get free, and I want to see how Troye finds his real mom!

  3. I want to see Troye with his mother too.
I voted for Davrin:) Jared is boring. *hehe*

  4. Aw, Trish you're so pretty.
I'll be back to read the chapters :)

  5. I love them both, but my vote will go to Davrin, after all this is a vampiracy, so I'd like to see more of him and how he takes over the world. Jared's been good to her, but I don't see any chemistry between them. Where as with Dav...

  6. Jared showed a lot of restraint with Azaria's mother. I like the name of the twins.

I like Jared but I voted for Davrin--because he is evil, there is more conflict.

  7. @Qui: Her parents are like the stereotypical parents who believe in stature and over-achievement. That's not to say J is a pauper but they just don't approve. They probably wanted to see their daugther with someone who has power and fame. It's all about keeping up with appearances with them. No doubt this is a black mark on their family tree.
Imagine their reactions if Az told them about Troye.

I think with J and Az it's that whole "you were my best friend and I fell in love with you and I think I still am so let's be together" type of thing but obviously as people grow feelings change and they have yet to realise that theirs is a relationship lacking in raw passion.

Well I've already written a chapter for Davrin - I'm just finding a place to slot it in so that the story flows. But I'm not saying anything further about whether he will escape or not. :)

  8. @Jill: there is definitely a good side to him that he's not willing to show the world. Maybe Az will have what it takes to change him if ever he gets outs, finds her and they admit their love for each other. The fact that she's human is going to prove to be an obstacle to him admitting he loves her though. Even if it's in an obsessive kind of way.

Jared is very understanding and perhaps too much so. :/ I actually don't know what to do with him lol *blush*

  9. @Dutchy! Troye will definitely meet his mother. The fortune teller said so and so it will be. The question is whether he's going to take the whole thing well when he finds out the mother he's always known is not his real mother.

  10. @Val: Dav should be featuring a lot more but he can't really do much in his little dungeon besides mentally torture Az and J. But I plan on giving him more chapters. I do miss playing him.

As for Az and J, like I said to Qui it's one of those situations where they're trying to chase the chemistry that had existed between them. What they don't realise is that their feelings would have definitely changed as would they have.

And the pic O_o yeah it was taken on one of those very rare good days when I didn't come out looking like a sleep deprived alcoholic or something. A friend of mine had actually added the name and heart.

I must say though... You look very young :) And that's one infectious smile. You should teach me how to do it lol. I never smile in my pics :/ Yeah but I'll stop rambling now :D

  11. @Seaweedy: With a mother like hers I don't know how he did it. In the original scene he was supposed to leave the hospital completely instead of just loitering outside.

The names were randomly decided on. I didn't want to just pick a name so I thought why not name them after something. Of course there's no dramatic story behind it.

I think Davrin's conflict is more an inner conflict rather than a conflict with society or another person even though he hates the human race. But he doesn't hate them as much as he thinks he does if he loves Az.
